Mortgage Rates Unchanged To Slightly Higher To Begin Week

Mortgage rates moved slightly higher in most cases on Monday, though some lenders were essentially unchanged from Friday's latest offerings. Despite the moderate weakness, with the exception of Friday, today's rates are in line with February lows, though the range has been narrow. 3.625% continues to be the most prevalent Best-Execution rate with reasonably priced "buy-downs" for those interested in paying more upfront cost in exchange for lower rate. Mortgage Rates Aggressively Flat To End The Month

Mortgage rates are even more sharply unchanged today than they were yesterday, which at least saw some consensus toward strength in the morning and weakness in the afternoon. In contrast, today's movements in the secondary mortgage market were completely flat (relative to their average range of motion). This left nearly all lenders at liberty to put out one rate sheet in the morning and call it a day. As such, 3.625% best-execution is unchanged, as are the average costs associated with that rate...

Mortgage Rates Unchanged To Slightly Higher Heading Into 3-Day Weekend

Mortgage rates moved modestly higher for some lenders today, while others remained closer to unchanged territory. Following Wednesday's swing to 6-month highs, this leaves the average rate sheet somewhere between there and yesterday's. In terms of the actual interest rate, 3.625% remains as the most prevalent "best-execution" rate, with relatively small adjustments in costs vs yesterday. Market movements during US trading hours have been relatively subdued for mortgage-backed-securities, or "MBS...

Mortgage Rates Bounce Back To Begin The Week

Mortgage rates regained a good amount of lost ground today as most lenders' rate sheets were in line with or better than last week's rates. The overall movement wasn't enough to justify a shift back to 3.5% Best-Execution from the recently more prevalent 3.625%, but it's a step in that direction. The differences in rates would be more noticeable in terms of the closing COSTS or lender credit as opposed to the rates themselves. ( What is A Best-Execution Mortgage Rate? ) Bond markets were fairly calm...

Mortgage Rates Steady Or Lower For Seventh Straight Day

Mortgage rates improved slightly on Tuesday, extending their recent streak of improvements to 7 days. Last Thursday was the only one in that series that didn't see clearcut improvements, but on average, lenders' rate offerings were roughly unchanged. So we'll count it! Today's gains were fairly tame with Best-Execution for Conventional 30yr Fixed loans remaining at 3.375% for most lenders and only slightly decreased borrowing costs. Mortgage Rates End Week At Best Levels, But Risks Persist

Mortgage rates continued a moderate trend of improvement from mid-week, bringing rates to their best levels of the week on Friday. All of the recent day-over-day changes in rates have taken place on quite a small scale historically as broader markets stay exceptionally contained ahead of the Fiscal Cliff deadline. Conventional 30yr Fixed Best-Execution rates are still widely viable at 3.375%, but 3 days of minor improvements brings 3.25% increasingly back into view. ( Read More:What is A Best-Execution...

Mortgage Rates Hold Ground After Rising On Friday

Mortgage rates are very slightly lower today compared to Friday's latest offerings. However, Friday's rates were the highest of the week after the stronger-than-expected jobs report gave a boost to stocks and did some damage to bond markets. With rates able to hold their ground today, Best-Execution rates for 30yr Fixed, Conventional loans remain in transit between 3.375% and 3.25% depending on the lender and scenario. Mortgage Rates Rise Following Employment Situation Report

Mortgage rates moved higher at their fastest pace in over two weeks following Friday's Employment Situation Report. In a historical context, the losses were moderate as the range of available rates continues to be uncommonly narrow. Additionally, many lenders repriced to higher levels with yesterday afternoon's weakness, and in those cases, the day-over-day damage is less severe. The most prevalent and efficient rate quote for an ideal scenario was in the process of edging down to 3.25% for 30yr...

Mortgage Rates Approaching All-Time Lows

Mortgage rates were slightly lower again on Wednesday. Even though the day to day movements have been small, that gets us as close as we've been to the all-time lows seen in late September and early October, with a few exceptions depending on the lender. Best-Execution for Conventional 30yr Fixed Loans has arguably moved down to 3.25% at this point, though 3.375% is still prevalent depending on the lender and scenario. Mortgage Rates Continue Losing Streak On Stronger Jobs Data

Markets had been anxiously awaiting Friday's jobs data and the movement that followed was decisive. Best-Execution for 30yr fixed, conventional loans is up to 3.375% again for many lenders while some remain at 3.25% and others still, have moved up to 3.5%.
